LGBTQIA+ Artist Call: Art Exhibit Opportunity!

Posted April 3rd, 2021 in Events ,Important!.

The staff at NCMMSpt is dedicated to shining a light on historically underrepresented communities. We believe that all people have a story to share and deserve to be represented within the museum. We are asking for your help in sharing these stories and connections. This is a new initiative for the museum, thus we are asking for assistance from the local LBGTQIA+ community.

2D and small 3D pieces are welcome to be submitted, as well as written and digital items. Pieces will be monitored with temperature gauges and the windows throughout the exhibit hall have UV protectant glass.

The selection committee will consist of representatives from NC Maritime Museum at Southport and the Frank Harr Foundation. For this initial temporary exhibit, the committee will select 10 – 12 pieces that will open in conjunction with the start of Pride Month on June 1, 2021 and be on display through Labor Day weekend, closing on September 7, 2021.

Electronic submissions are due by 5 p.m. on May 1, 2021 and the selected artists will be notified by May 15, 2021.
